The 878 Banff / Canmore Squadron is raising funds to purchase a new 15-passenger van to help ensure our cadets can get safely to and from scheduled events.

Second Prize – 16” x 24” “The Wisper” print on aluminum by Ken Hoehn, retail value $470
The Whisper” is a notable nature photograph by Ken Hoehn, a renowned Canadian wildlife photographer based in Canmore, Alberta. The photograph features a close-up of a Great Gray Owl, capturing the bird’s intense gaze and detailed plumage. 3rd prize: Edge of the Coulee, Western Landscape is a 1961 lithograph by the Canadian artist and academic George Swinton (1917–2002). retail value $150. Framed size 19”x 24”
George Swinton was a multifaceted figure in the Canadian art world, born in Vienna before emigrating to Canada in 1939. In 1954, he became a professor at the University of Manitoba and later at Carleton University. He is most famous for his pioneering research and books on Inuit sculpture, such as Sculpture of the Eskimo (1972). Swinton was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy and was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1980 for his contributions as a painter, critic, and promoter of Inuit art. His artworks are held in major institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
